Today was not a great day. I woke up and my shoulders were sore from carrying the backpacks all day. My head hurt presumably from the altitude, made worse by my tense neck and shoulders. So it begins. Sergio made me some coca tea and I drank lots of water. Maybe too much - as the nausea from my empty stomach got worse and I threw up right before my first work call of the day. I did feel much better afterwards though. I slowly ate a banana and some goldfish throughout the day while sipping on coca tea and keeping hydrated. I was in and out of bed, occasionally having to go lay down due to nausea. Throughout not feeling well, I was really happy with the amount of work and meetings I was able to attend, so it wasn’t a complete loss and I do think working was a good thing to keep me focused on trying to get better instead of laying miserably in bed all day. Finally at 16:40 I felt mostly better, and ended up working a bit late to make up for some lost time earlier in the day. Overall it was a productive work day and relaxing evening.
At 19:00 we decided to go to dinner and our first choice wasn’t available until 21:00 so we called an audible and went to an Israeli place that Haisting found called Allenby. This is the first restaurant where I think the waiter (and maybe owner) casually sat down at our table to take our order; it was so friendly, and unexpected. The food was absolutely delicious and hit the spot after not having really eaten much all day. I do think I still have a bit of brain fog from the altitude still, as I was in and out of focus throughout our conversations.
After dinner we began our hike (literally) back up to our Airbnb. I started my activity tracking a bit late, but what I tracked was 0.5 miles up 161 feet. Our pace was 26:56 min/mi and my average heart rate was 120 bpm with a max of 141 bpm. The elevation of our Airbnb is 11,377 ft. We laid low after dinner, I took the time to catch up on various messages, emails, and journaling.20220419: In Search of Soup
